Metro Atlanta city managers detail potential money lost from new ICE facilities

11Alive sat down with city managers from Oakwood and Social Circle, both with impeding ICE facilities, about potential costs to taxpayers.

SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. — 11Alive is digging into the impact new ICE facilities would have on Georgia taxpayers in both Oakwood and Social Circle. 

A copy of a deed shows the Department of Homeland Security purchased a warehouse in Social Circle for more than $128 million. This is part of the plans to create a new ICE detention facility in metro Atlanta. It is one of two projects 11Alive has reported on in Walton and Hall
