The Miami Dolphins failed to meet expectations during the 2025 season. Despite having holes on the roster, the team filled those holes prior to the season by signing veterans with starting experience to one-year contracts. Surprisingly, that strategy worked out well for the most part; however, the players that the team was built around like Tua Tagovailoa disappointed and it left Miami entering a rebuild in 2026.

As a result, the Dolphins’ expectations have been lowered in 2026. The team parted ways with most of their highest-paid players.
