NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — An urgent search is underway for a missing 7-year-old boy in Newton County.
Deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office said that Elias Floyd was last seen in his home at 1 p.m. Elias is roughly 3-feet tall and weighs 50 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a gray short sleeve T-shirt with blue Paw Patrol pants, no shoes and black socks.
The boy’s guardian said she works from home and Elias is homeschooled, but she noticed that he was gone after calling for him and him not answering several hours after Elijah was last seen in the home. That’s when she called the Newton County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday evening.
Elias likes areas with water and Christmas lights, according to a bulletin from the sheriff’s office.
The concern for Elias’ disappearance is elevated due to the weather overnight. Temperatures are already in the 30s, and they are expected to drop into the upper 20s by the early morning.
Georgia State Patrol said they have a helicopter up in the area searching for Elias near Denny Dobbs Park in Covington.
