Man shot outside Brookhaven Kroger in DeKalb shooting spree dies; third victim killed in random attacks

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — The third victim in last Monday’s shooting spree in DeKalb County, who initially survived the random attacks, has died according to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Tony Matthews, 48, was described as an unhoused man sleeping outside the Peachtree Road Kroger in Brookhaven when he was shot last Monday morning. Speaking to 11Alive on Monday, his family however said he was not homeless and they weren’t sure why he was sleeping outside the Kroger. Police characterized him as
