Wildfires sparking in south Georgia amid drought conditions, Clinch County’s Pineland Road fire burning across 16,000 acres

According to the Georgia Forestry Commission, dozens of new fires have sparked in the past few days burning thousands of acres, primarily in south Georgia.

CLINCH COUNTY, Ga. — Wildfires are sparking across south Georgia as drought conditions continue in the Peach State, with the Georgia Forestry Commission reporting dozens of new fires across the last few days burning thousands of acres.

The largest current fire is the Pineland Road fire in Clinch County. The forestry commission said Tuesday it had continued to grow, and wildfire data on the commission’s website shows it at about 16,500 acres
