WASHINGTON — The U.S. Justice Department plans to expand the methods used for federal executions, including allowing firing squads, electrocution and gas asphyxiation, as the Trump administration moves to expedite capital punishment.
The changes were outlined in a report released Friday by acting Attorney General Todd Blanchette.
The report directs the Bureau of Prisons to update its execution protocol to include additional methods permitted under some state laws.
