Severe storm cuts path of destruction across north Texas, killing 1 and injuring many others

North Texas woke up Sunday to destruction after severe overnight storms turned deadly. Multiple families have been displaced, and at least one person has died.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Nearly 40,000 north Texans were in the dark Saturday night while a severe thunderstorm swept across the region, causing widespread damage.

The storm brought wind gusts up to 60 mph and golf ball-sized hail. Locals reported seeing scattered debris and power lines blown down.

At least one death has been linked to the storm in Runaway Bay, a lakeside community roughly an hour’s drive northwest
