Virginia leaders condemn political violence after White House Correspondents’ Dinner scare

Conversations around political violence are intensifying nationwide after shots were fired near the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — At Congresswoman Jen Kiggans’ re-election kickoff event in Virginia Beach, the gathering of Republican officials took on a more serious tone as part of the attention turned to the events in Washington, D.C., on Saturday evening.

Kiggans addressed the incident directly, calling for a shift in how political conversations are happening.

“There is never a place for political violence. We have got to end this divisive rhetoric,” Kiggans said. “It’s got to stop.”
