Gas prices up 15 cents from last week

Gas prices in the U.S. hit an average of $4.176 Tuesday, a jump of six cents that brings prices to 15 cents higher than last week.

WASHINGTON — The national retail average for a gallon of gasoline jumped 6 cents from Monday to Tuesday and is expected to continue rising in the coming days. 

The national average jumped 15 cents in a week, reaching the highest amount since 2022, as the U.S. continues to face high prices because of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz amid the Iran war.
