Shots fired at Yesler Community Center near Seattle mayor’s event

SEATTLE — Police are investigating after gunfire struck a building in Seattle’s Yesler Terrace neighborhood Tuesday evening while Mayor Katie Wilson was attending a community event, according to the Seattle Police Department (SPD).

Officers responded around 5:30 p.m. to reports of shots fired near 917 E. Yesler Way, the site of the Yesler Community Center, according to police.

Mayor Wilson was attending an event with children and adults at the time. Witnesses told police three to four suspects fled the area in a dark-colored sedan.
