Hochul says second home tax is part of budget deal, but details still scarce

The good news for Mayor Zohran Mamdani is that the state budget deal, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul, will include a tax on second homes worth $5 million or more that are owned by non-city residents.

The bad news is Hochul didn’t budge on any further tax hikes and seemed irked at any implication the city doesn’t get its fair share from the state.
