Aubrey Plaza and Joe Wengert didn’t have to look far for inspiration on Kevin, their adult animated series for Prime Video.
In a quite unusual scenario, the show had the two reconvening to mine their past romantic relationship a couple of decades after it ended — using that history as the backdrop to explore the inner life of Kevin, the cat (voiced by Jason Schwartzman) that they once owned together.
Interestingly, Plaza and Wengert came to team up on Kevin after each separately mulled their own cat-centric animated series, pre-pandemic. Their relationship didn’t come into the story until the folks at animation
