Attorney shortage stalls Robert Aaron Long’s Atlanta death penalty trial

The capital murder trial for Robert Aaron Long, accused in the Atlanta spa shootings, is delayed due to insufficient public defense lawyers.

ATLANTA — The second case against Robert Aaron Long, accused of going on a murderous shooting rampage at metro Atlanta spas five years ago, remains at an impasse because the Fulton County Public Defender’s office does not have enough attorneys to represent Long in a capital murder trial.

One of the two public defenders assigned to the case left in January. The court must have two attorneys experienced in trying death penalty cases.
