Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary no longer in danger; Developer withdrew its proposal to build housing next to the Gwinnett County animal haven.

A developer withdrew its request to rezone 29 acres of vacant land next to the sanctuary for housing.

LILBURN, Ga. — UPDATE: Gwinnett County Commissioner Ben Ku says after receiving a “Recommendation of Denial” from County planning staff, the applicant has decided that the best course of action was to withdraw the case. The request will be removed from the Planning Commission and Board of Commissioner agendas and will not be heard.

A request to build more than 200 homes and duplexes in Gwinnett County next to a wildlife sanctuary has community members concerned.
