Cobb County Sheriff deputized police officers as Cobb County and Mableton let police service agreement expire

Cobb Co. Chairwoman Lisa Cupid said Sheriff Owens deputized 50 police officers Monday, allowing them to legally continue to respond in Mableton.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A disagreement between Cobb County and the City of Mableton means the contract under which Cobb County provided police services was not renewed. The agreement expired Sunday night, following failed negotiations.

When it comes to emergency response, Cobb County Chairwoman Lisa Cupid said Mableton residents should not notice a difference.
