New York state Sen. Pat Fahy has introduced a bill that would expand access to swimming lessons for children diagnosed with autism.
This comes in the wake of the death of 7-year-old Harbe Nagi, who was found dead in a pool in Menands last week following a search that lasted for multiple days.
Harbe was what the senator calls non-verbal and autistic.
According to Fahy, the legislation would make swimming lessons specialized for children living with disabilities “Medicaid-eligible,” which would allow Medicaid home and community-based services to cover the cost of those lessons. It would also require New York state lifeguards
