An officer with the United States Secret Service, along with staff of the Washington Hilton, were commended tonight for how they responded to the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in April.
Weijia Jiang, the outgoing president of the WHCA, presented Secret Service officer Victor Gonzales with the President’s Award for Exceptional Service to the WHCA. Gonzales, despite being struck by gunfire, engaged the armed intruder at the April event.
