FIFA Set To Lose Vote Over Controversial Private Investment Plan After Europe, Asia & Americas Reject Proposal

UPDATED with the latest: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has become the latest to reject FIFA‘s proposal to sell stakes in tournaments to private investors.

The AFC has joined with the European and Americas football bodies meaning that it is now likely that more than half of FIFA’s overall membership would reject the plan if it were put to a vote.

The AFC said FIFA’s plan could not “realistically achieve the necessary broad consensus and unity required to move forward.”
