The North Carolina House passed sweeping changes to election laws through two bills Tuesday afternoon.
Some of the changes include adopting shorter early voting periods for primaries, runoffs and special elections, going from 17 days down to 10 now.
The State Auditor’s Office will also now perform post-election audits, and the use of a federal database to maintain voter rolls and an expanded ballot validation process, including signature verification, will come into play too.
