DULUTH — The Trump administration admitted it canceled more than $7.5 billion in federal grants last October, including a $50 million grant to Minnesota Power and nearly half a billion dollars to the Minnesota Department of Commerce, “based solely” on whether the projects were planned in Democratic states.
In a court filing last month, a lawyer for the Department of Energy said the agency “accepts that the inclusion of grants in the October notice tranche was based solely on the political identity of the grant recipient’s state.”
