JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Mississippi’s 2027 election season is already taking shape, with candidates announcing bids for open seats and higher office months ahead of voting.
Political strategists say five of eight statewide offices are certain to change hands, six if Shad White runs for governor.
Wide open governor’s race expected
Republican strategist Henry Barbour said the shifts are already underway.
“We’re going to have fruit basket turnover,” Barbour said.
Barbour said this could be as wide open a governor’s race as Mississippi has seen since 1987.
