The dangers of politicians being “too online”

TV and online websites remain the most used sources for news, but more and more of us say we also get news from social media, according to media watchdog Ofcom. While this is highest among 16-24 year olds at 78%, a majority of adults in every age group use social media to access news, apart from the over-65s. Even among over 75s, 22% find out what is happening in the world from social media. For politicians, this is no longer just about reaching young people – this is all voters.
