As you can probably tell from these columns, I love a good debate. More importantly, I think it is important to listen to other perspectives. Through those interactions, my views evolve. After writing about housing affordability, for example, I met with the Avon town manager and had a great conversation about their initiatives. As you might expect, we agreed on the significance of the problem, agreed on some solutions and disagreed on others.
That’s how debate is supposed to work. But productive debate requires something increasingly difficult to find: a common set of facts from which to begin.
