An unusually personal feud is erupting over West Virginia’s most iconic cultural landmark as the state’s two most powerful Republicans circle each other ahead of a potential future showdown.
In a press release on Wednesday, Gov. Patrick Morrisey congratulated an investment firm for winning approval to operate a casino at The Greenbrier, a century-old luxury hotel near White Sulpher Springs.
The firm, Kennedy Lewis Investment Management, said earlier this month it had reached agreement to operate the hotel through a joint venture with its previous owners, the family of U.S. Sen. Jim Justice, Morrisey’s predecessor in the governor’s office.
