Labor Day is the unofficial start of campaign season. Many political offices in North Carolina are up for election in November, but the ones that have attracted the most national attention are the two congressional races in which NENC will vote: U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives District 1.
The U.S. Senate consists of 100 senators, of which 53 are currently Republicans. Forty-five senators are Democrats and the two independents caucus with the Democrats.
