NCAC Decries Blacklisting of Macklemore for Political Speech

As an organization defending freedom of speech, thought, and inquiry, the National Coalition Against Censorship condemns the decision to blacklist Macklemore from certain large music venues because of his political expression. Large venues have immense cultural power to determine the limits of speech and opinion in public spaces. While private stadium venues and their owners have a legal right to control the speech on their stages, wielding that power as a political litmus test erodes the values of a free democracy.
