EXCLUSIVE: The Camden International Film Festival announced its awards Monday after wrapping the 22nd edition of the prestigious documentary festival in mid-coast Maine.
Dependence, a film directed by Grace Harper Brighouse that held its world premiere at CIFF, earned the festival’s Harrell Award. The nonfiction feature examines the filmmaker’s strained relationship with her father, an estrangement caused by his Oxycontin addiction. The festival program calls it “a funny, tender, and poignant essay on family bonds—folding past and present, before and after—as a father and daughter search for understanding in the limited time they have left.”
