GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Gainesville City Commissioner Cynthia Chestnut, a Democrat, said she does not intend to run for elected office again after decades in public service. Chestnut also said she has no regrets about supporting Republican Gov.-elect Byron Donalds.
Career in public service
Chestnut’s career has taken her from city commissioner to mayor-commissioner, the Florida House of Representatives and the County Commission, before she returned to the City Commission. After years of representing North Central Florida, Chestnut said she is ready to close that chapter.
