Sources: Former Braselton police chief found dead inside home

Michael Steffman was arrested back in November of 2025, just hours after he announced his retirement and resignation.

BRASELTON, Ga. — Multiple sources tell 11Alive the former Braselton police chief was found dead inside his home on Friday. A death investigation is underway.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into what happened. A heavy police presence was observed outside the home in the 100 block of East Lake Drive.
