DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa State Capitol Bureau) — A former Iowa State Cyclones wide receiver who later became a top leader at the Statehouse gave an emotional retirement speech on the floor of the state senate Monday as he prepares to leave office to focus on his two-year battle with a brain tumor.
State Senator Jack Whitver, (R-Grimes), got elected in 2011 and later served as senate president and majority leader. He announced in 2024 that he was undergoing treatment for a brain tumor.
