Body found at Georgia lake in 1990 identified more than 3 decades later

The case is being investigated as a homicide.

TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — The body of a man found at a Georgia lake in the ’90s has been identified 36 years later, according to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the body was identified as Craig Alexander Maddox, who lived in Arkansas at the time of his death.

The sheriff’s office said on March 11, 1990, a decomposed body was discovered on the shore of West Point Lake. Some of his belongings were also recovered with the body.
