Ex-UGA football star arrested for going 135 mph in a 70 mph zone in Georgia: report

The arrest also renews attention on a series of high-profile driving incidents involving former Georgia football players in recent years.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ga. — Nolan Smith Jr., a linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles and former standout at University of Georgia, was recently arrested in Georgia on charges of speeding and reckless driving.

Smith was arrested on May 15 and charged with speeding in excess of maximum limits and reckless driving just outside of Macon. 11Alive’s sister station WMAZ confirmed the arrest with the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office.
