New York Democrats eye single redistricting amendment

New York Democrats in the state Legislature are expected to introduce a single constitutional amendment to reform New York’s redistricting process late Monday, an effort they insist is a response to President Donald Trump’s push for Republican-led legislatures to engage in mid-decade redistricting, opening up the state’s options currently stymied by an independent commission adopted through a previous constitutional amendment in 2014.
