ATLANTA — Federal authorities have charged John Elijah Matthews with committing an act of violence using a dangerous weapon on a mass transportation system after prosecutors say he fatally stabbed a 66-year-old woman aboard a MARTA train in Atlanta last weekend.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the victim, Margaret Swan, was riding northbound from Lakewood Station to Oakland City Station on May 30 when the attack occurred.
