South Fulton County lost its last emergency room four years ago in a Wellstar closure.
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Grady Health on Monday officially opened its new freestanding emergency room in south Fulton County, bringing such a facility back to the area for the first time in four years.
Wellstar closed its ER in East Point in 2022, converting it to a 24-hour urgent care and rehab facility. That move left south Fulton County, which was already considered a “healthcare desert,” without an emergency department.
