DETROIT — Two researchers with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have been charged in a federal criminal complaint alleging they conspired to smuggle deactivated mpox virus samples into the United States. The criminal complaint says the men also made false statements to federal authorities, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan.
