Atlanta launches its first autonomous shuttle service, ATL Spoke, offering free rides to connect key transit areas.

ATLANTA — Atlanta’s first autonomous public transit shuttle began service Friday, offering free rides between the West End MARTA Station, the Beltline’s Southwest Trail, and destinations in the Lee + White district.

The pilot program, called ATL Spoke, will run for 12 months and is designed to test how self-driving vehicles can help close gaps in the city’s transit network, according to Atlanta Beltline, Inc.
