MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – State Rep. T.J. Hardaway — son of the late Rep. G.A. Hardaway — says he plans to officially run as a write-in candidate for Tennessee House District 93.
G.A. Hardaway died in April after representing District 93 for 19 years. T.J. Hardaway was appointed in May to fill the seat until the fall elections.
Hardaway announced his plans during a Thursday press conference, wearing a bow tie in a nod to his father. State Representatives Torrey Harris and Karen Camper, the House Democratic leader, stood with him in support.
