TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Angie Nixon won her party’s primary Tuesday, earning 56% of the vote with 99% of precincts reporting.
She won against fellow Democrat Alex Vindman.
For the general election, she will take on incumbent Ashley Moody, who won the Republican primary.
Republicans have been enjoying widespread support in the state. The last Democrat to win a U.S. Senate seat in Florida was former Sen. Bill Nelson, who was a famous supporter of NASA and the Space Coast during his tenure in office.
